A demonstration of Tai Chi, a presentation by acclaimed life coach Curly Martin, author of The Personal Success Handbook, plus music from concert pianist Yemi Odediran, are just some of the offerings at the social event being organised by Heyday - the membership organisation for people approaching or already in retirement - taking place at Reading Town Hall on Monday 24 November between 5pm and 8pm.

The Heyday Experience, a cheese and wine social event plus exhibition, is open to anyone over the age of 50 and is free of charge.

Everyone attending the event will have the chance to: win a case of Great Western wines worth £50; receive a home fire-prevention assessment and free smoke alarm from Royal Berkshire Fire Service; have a special eye test for motorists with the local Road Safety division; and, to find out about educational opportunities from U3A and local services for older people from Age Concern. There will also be a ‘how to’ session on computing and the internet from Silver Surfers, plus information on setting up your own business from Prime. The Reading Heyday Friendship Centre will also be on hand to provide details of their monthly programme of events. There will be a special membership offer for anyone who joins Heyday on the night, plus a chance to try out MoneyTrail, a new financial planning tool.

Ailsa Ogilvie, director of Heyday, said: ‘The Heyday Experience is all about giving the public a taste of what our membership organisation can offer them and an opportunity to meet other people from their area in a social and convivial setting. We welcome all older members of the Reading community to our event.’
