McIlroy Park Action Day
30 October 2006
McIlroy Park Tilehurst was the seen of some serious volunteering action on 28 October, CSV’s Make a Difference Day. A team of 10 volunteers took part in clearing holly to increase the biodiversity of the park, which provides a stunning view out across Reading and the Thames Valley. The event was part of an annual call to action for volunteers across the UK, over 115,000 volunteers were involved nationally.
The town’s Volunteer Centre and Reading Borough Council Parks Department teamed up to promote this great opportunity to ‘get your hands dirty’ with the aim of improving this local conservation area. Richard Usher Deputy Director of Reading Voluntary Action and Dave Booth RBC Parks Development Officer admire the community spirit of volunteers who have participated in similar events over the last 3 years. ‘Come rain or shine local people are committed to making a difference in their local community and we would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you”.
