The Big Lottery Fund is delivering the Community Assets programme on behalf of the Office of the Third Sector. This is not Lottery funding.
Community Assets aims to empower communities by offering grants for refurbishment of local authority buildings in England, to enable their transfer to the third sector
Community Assets will bring about the following outcomes:
• Local third sector organisations have greater security and independence, and are better able to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
• Communities have more access to better facilities that respond to their needs.
• There is more effective partnership working between local authorities and the third sector.
The programme is open to joint applications from local authorities and third sector partnerships.
CONNECTING COMMUNITIES PLUS - COMMUNITY GRANTS Connecting Communities Plus is a grants programme designed to support practical action to help achieve the goals set out in Improving Opportunity, Strengthening Society, the government's strategy to increase race equality and improve community cohesion. The programme facilitates tailored initiatives to meet the specific needs of disadvantaged communities, rather than treating all BME communities in the same way. Connecting Communities Plus Community Grants are aimed at locally run and managed voluntary and community organisations with an income of less than £50,000 per year, run by volunteers or with one full time or two part time paid staff. The third and final round of the fund is also supporting local projects that will focus on the legacy of the slave trade following the 200th anniversary of the passage of the 1807 Abolition of the Slave Trade Act in 2007.
