Diana fund launches funding scheme
The Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund will be offering grants to organisations that provide support and advocacy for young refugees and asylum seekers.
The funding scheme will be led by the Diana Fund's Refugee and Asylum Seekers Initiative, which attempts to change policy to meet international standards on children's rights.
It is intended to help community organisations carry out the same advocacy at a local level.
"The initiative is seeking to ensure the best interests of the children and young people are a priority in both policy and practice at all times," said David Farnsworth, head of the initiative.
The deadline for initial applications is 12 September. All applications will go through an initial assessment against the criteria for assessing grant applications.
By mid-October, successfully short-listed applicants will go through to a second-stage application process.

IT GRANTS PROGRAMME LAUNCHED
Telecoms company Talktalk is offering £60,000-worth of technology grants to UK charities and community groups.
The firm is inviting not-for-profit organisations to enter its second annual Innovation in the Community awards, held in collaboration with digital technology charity Citizens Online.

Organisations have until 30 September to enter innovative project ideas for developing their work using technology. Grants of £2,000 will be awarded to 30 projects and they will receive equipment to develop their use of the internet. Five overall winners will also get individual workshops with LASTMINUTE.COM co-founder Martha Lane Fox.

"Many people can find the internet daunting, but by developing exciting and innovative ways for people to use digital technologies, community organisations can encourage new users," said John Fisher, chief executive of Citizens Online. "These awards provide an excellent opportunity to deliver projects that can inspire individuals to start their own digital journeys."
Winners will be announced by 25 October. To enter, go to www.talktalk.co.uk/innovation.
