Whether your organisation currently has staff or volunteers delivering its work, there are important legal and employment issues on which you need to be up to speed. On Wednesday 1 April Reading Voluntary Action will be holding a day of presentations and workshops focusing on the legal and practice issues surrounding working with volunteers and paid staff within the voluntary and community sector.
Topics for the first part of the day will focus on volunteering, such as good practice, recruitment, referencing and policies that need to be in place. We will also tackle specifics around working with young volunteers, benefits implications, trustees and social enterprise. The second part of the day will focus on employment law and preparing to employ. We will have a team of employment law solicitors who will present workshops focusing on recruitment, redundancies, insurance, referencing and new legal issues that employers need to be aware of. There will also be a question and answer session and a chance to meet other groups and organisations and so promote relationships within the sector.
There are three ways to attend this event:
1. Morning session only (9am-1pm) - cost £10 per booking including refreshments.
2. Afternoon session only (1.30-5pm) - cost £15 per place including refreshments.
3. Whole day (9-5pm) - cost £20 per booking, including lunch and refreshments during the day.
