Donated books end up in the bin

Donated books destined for a charity were chucked by council workers tidying up a tip.
Staff at South Reading’s household waste and recycling centre dumped the books over the Easter weekend.
An Evening Post reader spotted the workers throwing away dozens of donated books into paper and cardboard waste bins at the Island Road site.
Carol Munt, of Mitford Close in Whitley, admitted she was “shocked” to see the books binned – especially as they were originally intended for charities such as the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to sell second-hand.
