The Volunteer Service at Royal Berkshire Hospital is celebrating its 40th anniversary.
Since it began at the trust the service has offered a huge amount of help and support to patients and today there are 341 volunteers who give up their time for the hospital.
Driving the buggy for immobile patients between wards and staffing the trolley to take around to patients are just some of the helpers’ duties of the helpers.
Lynn Bayliss, manager of the service, said: “I have been here seven years and I have loved every minute of it.
“There is a really friendly atmosphere here and all the volunteers are so willing and keen, when I got here there were 240 volunteers but we now have an extra 100 which is great and we are always looking for more recruits."
