What does the Trustee Network offer?
Trustee Network meetings
Friendly and supportive quarterly meetings are opportunities for trustees to network, gather information and share experiences. These will include briefings on changes in legislation and other topics of interest to trustees, and discussions on best practice on a range of issues from trustee recruitment to conflict resolution. There is always time left to mingle and to seek advice!
Monthly email bulletins
• updates on changes in legislation and best practice
• details of local events and training
• availability of new resources
• local and national news items relevant to charities and voluntary 0rganisations
• links to support and case studies
A Trustee Network introduction pack
It can take a long time for new trustees to feel effective in their roles. The Trustee introduction pack is designed to help trustees through their induction period. The pack provides an introduction to the role of being a trustee. It includes helpful guides and a checklist to help trustees gather the information they need to fulfil their role. There is also a jargon buster and a map to the voluntary sector in Reading!
Online resources
Trustees will have access to a range of online resources and tools including:
• Governance documents and templates
• Model policies and procedures
• Employment guides and advice
• Information sheets and case studies
• Links to other sources of help and assistance
The Trustee library
Trustees are able to borrow from the Trustee library which holds more than one hundred books covering all aspects of running a charity or voluntary organisation. The library is held within the Reading Voluntary Action office in Cross Street.
Who can join?
Strong governance is the vital ingredient for a vibrant and sustainable organisation. Our mission is to connect, inform and support all charity trustees new and experienced. The Trustee Network Reading is open to all trustees, management committee members or charity board directors of organisations active in the Reading area.
Is it all free of charge?
Yes it is! The Trustee Network Reading is organised by Reading Voluntary Action and funded by The Earley Charity.
