The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) Awards seek to recognise and reward voluntary sector organisations, charities and other projects in the UK that are working to advance social justice and tackle issues of poverty.
The awards are aimed at grassroots organisations that are doing exceptional work in these areas and offers financial support to help continue their good work.
The deadline for applications is 22 February 2010.
Winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony in July.
Key Criteria: Effective UK-based poverty fighting groups with or without charitable status are eligible to apply. Successful entries must be helping people out of poverty or reversing social breakdown, and will be able to demonstrate their activity is:
• People focused.
• Tackling causes of poverty as well as the symptoms.
• Practical.
• Entrepreneurial.
• Driven by conviction.
• Motivated by compassion.
Application Procedure: There is no application form for the awards. Interested organisations are required to describe, in 500 words or less, how the organisation makes an exceptional contribution to tackling poverty or advancing social justice. Supporting evidence of up to 15 pages may be attached to the application. This may include press articles, evaluation reports or applications for funding. Applications can be submitted by email or by post.
