The Commissioning Group met in May to discuss a number of key issues.
The policy shift towards a Recovery agenda will mean that future commissioning opportunities will need to reflect the new agenda. Recovery might be very briefly explained as treatment for users that provides a somewhat more holistic service than has previously been available, it therefore changes some targets which may have been barriers to longer term recovery.
Premises are being redeveloped that will provide for complementary services to be delivered efficiently from a single address. More about that next time.
The Needle Exchange service, which runs out in January, will open for tender later in June. Groups interested in providing this service should keep a watch on the website
www.businessportal.southeastiep.gov.uk/sece/cms.nsf/vLiveDocs/SD-DEVV-6UNGEK or link from the procurement page on RBC's website.
The DAAT team are establishing direct communications with the chemist services across the town, previously linked through other agencies, and this would have longer term improvement in the overall efficiency of dispensing services for drug users.
