Happy New Year from Reading Voluntary Action
by Hazel Broad (Deputy Director)
3 January 2012
Our first Voluntary Opportunities e-newsletter of 2012 has been circulated with our best wishes for a happy and successful year ahead to all the members of the public who receive it. We also extend those good wishes to our RVA E-bulletin readers and visitors to our websites.
The Voluntary Opportunities newsletter featured 15 new roles which local groups and charities have asked us to advertise for the start of the New Year and more are being added to the
www.rgneeds.me website all the time, so it now has a listing of nearly 200 different tasks with which the community needs help. These offer scope for people with a wide range of skills and interests to work with any one of 150-plus local groups. As well as making a difference to the success of those groups and the services to their users, volunteers coming forward can extend their skills and improve their own wellbeing and sense of satisfaction.
We look forward to a successful year for volunteering in Reading where volunteers and organisations in need of their help can progress together.
