Advice Services Transition Fund

BIG Lottery are inviting bids to an Advice Services Transition Fund. Successful projects should have the following intended outcomes:
1. Advice organisations collaborate effectively with each other, and other agencies, to improve service outcomes for customers
2. Local advice services are resilient and well equipped to meet future needs, with more modern and enterprising business models and more diverse sources of funding.
Bids should be for second tier authority areas, and from consortia of voluntary and community groups (only) providing free advice on at least welfare benefits, debt, housing and employment.
First round bids are due in by 28 January 2013.
This is a really good opportunity to bring together a number of organisations which provide a range of advice in Reading, to ensure that good quality advice can reach those who most need it in local communities. Reading Voluntary Action wants to support the development of a local bid to achieve the stated outcomes.
In view of the timescale to develop a consortium bid, we would like to bring together groups which might be interested in hearing more and possibly joining in the bid as early as possible. We plan to hold an initial meeting on Thursday morning 6 December. Please link to the event details and online registration
For those who cannot attend but are interested in hearing more, please get in touch so that we can keep you updated.
