Match Funding for Regular Donations on Localgiving
by Rachel Miller (Capable Communities: Development Coordinator)

Localgiving are launching a new match funding scheme through which every regular donation (standing orders from £5-£10) will be doubled for one year.
Many local community groups are now using Localgiving and this incentive should encourage more to sign up to the fundraising site. The scheme will help organisations to encourage new donors in the knowledge that a £10 donation will mean £22.50 (with gift aid) reaches their chosen charity.
Localgiving is unique in that groups do not have to be registered charities to be signed up as they will be vetted by Berkshire Community Foundation before joining. Although annual membership is £72, the first three months are free. With the current match funding offer from Localgiving, this expense is likely to be covered without costing the organisation anything.
Particularly in the current funding climate, it is essential to ensure that your organisation has a range of funding sources. Monthly donations from supporters can form part of an organisation's most reliable income. As these donations are not ring-fenced this money can be useful for meeting costs that project-based funding grants may not cover.
The scheme launches on Tuesday 5 March at 10am. Regular donations set up before this time will not be eligible for the match funding. All match funding will last for 12 months.
