The Adventure Dolphin Centre at Pangbourne has a national reputation of excellence providing opportunities for young people (13 to 19 years) that are challenging and exciting, including: canoeing, kayaking, Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme, youth clubs, hill walking, rock climbing, multi-activities and orienteering.
The North East Area team of West Berkshire Council Youth Services is based at the Adventure Dolphin Centre, Pangbourne Centre and is the major outdoor provider for the Authority.

Freeride

Freeride is a club for all paddlers who have completed their BCU 4* training and who wish to take your paddling to the next level. The club offers opportunities in all paddling disciplines, so if you want to shred a wave, boof a drop, split in a hole or open canoe on the river Wye then this is the club for you.

There are a range of weekend and day trips organised for the Freeride group together with mini expeditions abroad.



Paddlesport for Young Paddlers

The Adventure Dolphin Centre actively participate in and supports the BCU 'Paddlesport' scheme in which young paddlers are invited to compete in a range of canoeing events.

These events are run throughout the winter to help maintain the interest of young paddlers in local clubs and youth organisations. The event has been running for a number of years, and aims to provide 'try it' sessions aligned with national paddling events. For example, marathon, slalom and polo. River Rats

River Rats is a paddling club specially set up for all those of you who hold either a BCU 2 or new 1 star award. The club offers a huge range of paddling opportunities including white water rivers, open canoeing, freestyle and kayak surfing. So if you want to give your paddling a kick start then this is the club for you. To take part in any or all of the amazing River Rats trips and activities contact Matt or Clare in the office.

Sunday Mornings 9:40am to sign in, change and be on the water for 10:00am - 12 noon throughout the year except Bank Holiday weekends (open Boxing Day morning). The Sunday Funday provides an open session of fun canoeing for all Centre members with their BCU 1 star or above. There is no formal instruction but the Coaches will not let anyone struggle. Regular trips out to local weirs for the more proficient paddlers take place over the winter period, as well as a variety of games and other water activities. Contact: Gill Goodchild

The Venturers club evening usually includes social time followed by a range of planned activities with a final social time to finish off. Most evenings include some handicrafts/ games/ sports.
Themes for the activities are set for each term, for example "getting on with people" and "the environment", involving the development of team working. Young People 9 - 13 yrs old.

The Voyageur Club is aimed at young adults who are interested in outdoor activities, want to gain more experience and take nationally recognised qualifications. We plan everything ourselves, and we often organise activities such as canoeing, kayaking, walking, climbing, camping, caving and skiing.

One week in four is given over to a social programme of activities whilst the remaining time is reserved for Duke of Edinburgh's Gold award expedition training.
The club runs a series of residential opportunities. Remember - it doesnt matter what your level of experience are - get involved with Voyageurs and you could be helping to pan and choose future actvities.

The Xodus youth club is geared for aged 14 to 25yrs who wish to take part in the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme.

Adventure Dolphin participate in a number of canoe and kayak competition disciplines, at both recreational and competition levels, with an emphasis on having loads of fun.

The Competition Group meet on Saturday mornings to train for Freestyle, Marathon and Slalom or any other event that you may wish to take part in, for example, Paddlesport.

No previous experience is required ...full training provided ....so come and visit us...
