BTCV is the UK's leading Social Enterprise Group that enables people to make a difference to their lives and improve the places around them. We plan, develop and maintain green open spaces used for play, learning and informal recreation.
Through the work we do, we support, encourage and celebrate volunteers and volunteering. Our work is focused on helping people to give some of their time, skills and enthusiasm, to create and sustain environmental action within local communities. We do this by providing individuals with the necessary knowledge, skills, opportunities and confidence to do so.
Locally we run Conservation Holidays, accredited and informal training courses, Green Gyms and a range of one-day, practical conservation projects that are open to everyone. We also deliver Employee Action Days in partnership with businesses and other organisations. Projects can range from tree planting and pond clearance, through to hedge-laying and heathland management. Everyone is welcome to help regardless of experience. Conservation volunteering offers opportunities to do something positive for the environment, get fit and enjoy the fresh air, discover local green spaces, learn about nature and traditional crafts, make new friends and have fun too.
We also provide a wide range of second tier support to local community groups. We also set up new groups, normally with a view to ensuring their ability to effectively operate independently of BTCV within two years, with their management and control being handed over to their members, who are generally local people living in the locations where they're based.
