Aims:
1. To restore the 1902 King's Meadow Baths building, for which the Campaign has secured a Grade II English Heritage Listing, returning it to its former glory as a summer swimming pool while introducing off-season flexibility to ensure its long-term future and lasting benefit to the community.
2. To generate the funds necessary to make the project happen. KMC needs to raise a large amount of money via fundraising and grant applications.
A multiple public activity centre will be created, with a removable floor and roof over the swimming pool in winter, maximising the potential of the building to hold exhibitions, shows, markets, offer an ice rink etc. Better changing facilities for sporting activities in the park will be built, together with a meeting place with refreshments housed in a new pavilion.
In addition, it is planned to provide a youth training opportunity within a controlled environment during the construction, restoration and operational phases. Trainees will also have the opportunity to meet potential employers at the project.
