"Recruiting governors with management skills for schools that need them most". The SGOSS work with local authorities to help schools find governors. They help fill vacancies which exist across England to find people with transferable skills who can add value on governing bodies. A governing body has three main roles: To provide strategic direction for the school; to act as a critical friend to the Headteacher; and to ensure accountability. Governors would deal with issues such as: how the school's budget is spent, the appointing and dismissing of staff, forming policy on the school's curriculum.
