Our aim is to provide opportunities for people to participate in the arts and we run a full programme of events which includes live music, poetry, a programme of workshops and classes as well as a programme of participatory arts projects. Aiming to improve the quality of life for everyone, the Centre is open to anyone to get involved in the arts and we are working to expand towards greater participation and inclusivity wherever we can. We remain independent, run by local people, putting on ground level events which are not catered for elsewhere in the town.

A friendly tutored life-drawing class for artists of all abilities, whether you are a figurative artist or just sharpening up your drawing skills; give it a whirl! There is normally no need to book - just turn up. But, to be safe, phone Berne on 07876 255547 for more info. There will be a 15-minute interval for refreshment in "Finchies" bar or just a chat. 7.00 pm. £6 / £5.

"Finchies" Bar is the hub of the Rising Sun's socialising. Every Tuesday evening "Finchies" is open or a relaxed drink in a sociable atmosphere. Occasional live music will be organised. "Finchies" in the rising Sun is part of the Greenfinch Project which involves people with learning difficulties who organise a range of cultural activities. Free entry.

National Lottery grant aids community arts centre

16 February 2011 - Rising Sun Arts Centre

The Rising Sun Arts Centre has been awarded a much needed Lottery grant to assist in the cost of fire safety work and other repairs. Centre volunteers have been hard at work helping with refurbishments and there will be a 'mini-relaunch' at an open day in April. Anyone is welcome to contact the Centre to learn about our activities and how it's run.
