The Thumbs Up Club was originally known as the 'Addington Holiday Club' and was set up for children at Addington Special School. The Club runs during the Easter and summer holidays from 9.30am to 4.00pm and now provides a holiday play club for children with special needs in the Wokingham, Reading and East Berkshire areas.
The Club caters for children with moderate, severe and profound and multiple learning difficulities who may also have sensory, motor or behavioural difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorders. We work with children from 4 to 19 years old and have a staffing ratio of 2 children to 1 staff, but we do have an additional requirement for occasional 1 to 1 support for specific children. We offer a very limited transport service.
The Club's activities include art and craft, soft play, games, puzzles, videos, water and sand play, outside games and toys, music, stories, visiting entertainers and occasional outside visits.
